Mum's Monday: The Power of Advertising in the Right Place at the Right Time

Taylor Swift's CD - 1989

This CD consists of great singalong songs on it. This CD explores a break up and moving on, with songs including Bad Blood, and Shake It Off.

We were in San Francisco and were dining at the Hard Rock Café on pier 39, when the song ‘Shake it off’ was played accompanied with the music video. During an enjoyable meal, the song was a good and catchy song to listen to and watch.

After a great time in San Francisco, we then flew down to Los Angeles. The first night we arrived, we dined at another Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Boulevard, where we heard the song and again see the video.

We then proceeded with our holiday, opting to get around by public transport and the occasional taxi ride. We got lost on the first full day there, which resulted in us – me and my husband – being on edge getting to and from places for the rest of the holiday. Once we were at the destinations, we had a great time and see some amazing sights but it was always in the back of our minds that we may struggle to get back and because people came from out of town to work, asking directions wasn’t the best option.

During that last day of the holiday, we went to Universal Studios’ city walk where again we heard ‘Shake it off’ and see the video on a large screen outside yet another Hard Rock Café. After a quick and thankfully easy subway ride, we were back on Hollywood Boulevard where we opted to eat at the Hard Rock Café for second and last time on our LA part of the holiday. The song was played and again the video was shown. The next day we flew home and pleased to be home without the risk of getting lost.

I had good and bad memories of our holiday and one of the good memories was hearing Taylor swifts ‘Shake it off’ as listening to the song brought back the sense of a nice atmosphere on a holiday that turned out to be more difficult than expected. As a result, I purchased the CD, 1989, after seeing an advert on the TV and remembering the happier times on our holiday.

Just goes to show that the power of advertising in the right place at the right time.
