The Watch – Part 71

Then the doorbell rang. We both looked at each other as we tried to figure out who would call at such an obscure time.

‘Who would be calling at this time of day,’ Amy said looking at the clock on the wall and discovered that it was in the middle of evening. When I looked, I saw that it had just gone past six O’clock.

‘I have no idea,’ I said standing up, walking towards the door and opening it. Behind the door stood one of Amy’s friends. She had a bright blonde, shoulder length hair that looked as if it had been freshly dyed and an incredible amount of makeup all over her face, making her eyes and lips stand out that much more. Her clothes made her makeup stand out even more: bright red shirt with a matching, patterned skirt that only stretched as far down as her knees. I knew it was one of Amy’s friends as I constantly saw her hanging out with Amy around school and other areas. I only know the name of one of Amy’s friends, and that’s Alex, however I cannot remember who that name belongs to, and I don’t want to make things worse by calling the woman in front of me by the wrong name.

‘Hi,’ I said simply.

‘Is Amy here,’ she said with a mixture of worry and sharpness. I do know one thing about who is standing in front of me, and that’s she doesn’t like me as much as everyone else in Amy’s friendship group. I mean, as with the majority of things, I may be over thinking it, making a mountain out of a molehill for no reason at all, but whenever I walk past her, she looks at me with an expression as if she’s daring me to go and talk to Amy. I never been bothered as to try and figure out whether her dislike is genuine or not, but I have a feeling that if it’s true, her sharpness in her voice is indicating that she doesn’t like the fact that Amy is inside my house right now. I really hope that I am just making things more complicated that they are. I don’t want any tension between anyone, especially since this is Amy’s friend, and probably the closest as well, for all I know.

‘Yeah,’ I said. ‘Would you like to come in for a bit?’ I asked.

‘No thanks,’ she said with that same tone again. Her sharpness seemed to be more prominent than her worry now that she knows Amy is OK, ‘this has to be a flying visit, unfortunately,’ she said with somewhat emphasis on the last word.

‘I’ll just go and call her, then,’ I said turning around and heading back into the living room and telling Amy that there’s someone at the door for her.

‘Hey, Kim,’ Amy said excitedly, practically bouncing towards the door towards her friend with arms outstretched.

‘Hey,’ her friend said mirroring her actions. They hugged for a good two seconds before separating. Her friend perked up so much after that hug. They both smiled before Amy asked what she was doing here.

‘My mum and dad called me to check if I weren’t at the shopping centre and I said that I was driving along the motorway at the time. I said that I was still at least a good couple of hours before I enter town. They then explained that they heard from your parents that you were there today and I came straight over as soon as I had the opportunity. I was so shocked to hear that you were right in the middle of it all. I mean, are you alright? Were you hurt in anyway?’

‘I’m fine,’ Amy said. ‘I’ve been spending the day with Sebastian,’ she said, breaking the news. Even an idiot could figure out that she meant we’re now a couple. Amy’s friend knew that Amy wouldn’t spend the day with me if we were anything else. I had believed for a long while now that she was the only person among the group that knew about my feelings towards Amy and that was the one thing that I couldn’t figure out properly: Why didn’t she say anything. Was it because of her dislike towards me that prevented her from saying something or was it something else. Maybe I’ll never know, but I’m not going to let that problem sit within my mind for any longer than necessary as that can lead to some rather serious ramifications. Kim shot a look towards me that told me that if it weren’t for me, she wouldn’t have been there, which is completely illogical for Amy could have easily gone with someone else or on her own, due to her wanting to get that figurine before it was all sold out… I need to stop developing this thought.

‘I’m really glad you’re OK,’ Kim said, her voice drenched in worry

‘So am I,’ Amy said.

‘I’m sorry I couldn’t get here any sooner; just after the phone call, I was held up in a massive traffic jam due to a runaway train of some sort. My radio is broken and so I could only get the news via people talking throughout the jam. I was stuck there for three hours, unable to move this way or that way.’

‘That was so terrible,’ Amy said. ‘I heard about the runaway train on the radio this morning but I didn’t know that you were on the road today. I thought that was tomorrow.

‘I wish I were. Now I can’t do any of the things I planned to do today. I have to do them all tomorrow, as well as tomorrow’s things, which is going to make things difficult, but I’ve done it before, so it shouldn’t be too difficult. I didn’t like the previous time, however, which means I won’t like this time, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, hey,’ she said quickly. I struggled to pick up on every word. Amy did, however, and nodded before Kim carried on.

‘Anyway, I’m sorry but this has to be a flying visit. My parents kind of want me to show up on their doorstep so that they can see that I’m OK. I did call them to say so, but I know them and they won’t settle down until they see me in person.’

‘Sure,’ Amy said going in for another hug.

‘I’ll see you around, then,’ Kim said, shooting me another subtle sharp look as if to say that I shouldn’t be the reason for why Amy won’t be able to hang out with her later on. I just stood there in the doorway between the hallway and the living room, just waiting for her to leave so I can get these unwanted thoughts out of my head as quickly as possible before they develop into anything that can be destructive.

‘OK, bye,’ they both said together before Amy closed the door and turned on the spot.

‘Sorry,’ she said, ‘I never introduced you two,’ she said.

‘Oh, don’t worry about that,’ I said. ‘Giving the circumstances of her visiting, I wasn’t expecting an introduction,’ I said.

‘For the record, her name is Kim,’ she said. It does seem strange that I couldn’t remember Kim’s name. It would make sense that I would have only know the name of the friend, who I am suspicious of disliking me. But instead, I know of Alex’s name. I shrugged in my mind to say to myself that I really wasn’t too bothered by it all and moved on.

‘Anyway,’ she said, ‘I had better get going.’

‘Would you like me to walk you back again?’ I asked. I tried to hide my disappointment. I kind of wish this day wouldn’t end so quickly, but I knew that if I made that happen, that would be giving away my secret and I’ve said way too much about why I do not want that to happen that it must be so boring to hear it again.

‘I think that I can handle myself,’ she teased, gently wrapping her arms around my shoulders.

‘I never said that you couldn’t,’ I said looking her in the eyes with.

‘I never said that you were implying that you said that,’ she teased further.

‘What can I say that isn’t implying anything, but will let me walk you home?’ I asked.

‘How about,’ she said thoughtfully, ‘see you tomorrow,’ and before I could say or do anything, she leaned forward and kissed me on the lips before turning on the spot once more and headed towards the door.

When she was about to step outside, I alerted her attention to the fact that she wasn’t wearing any shoes.

‘Ah,’ she said laughing. I picked them up and handed them to her. She slipped them on her feet and tied the laces with a double bow so that they wouldn’t come undone during the walk home.

‘Round two,’ I joked.

‘See you soon,’ she smiled.

‘I’m free whenever,’ I shrugged.

‘Then we can go about making it up as we go along,’ she said backing away up the garden path until her back hit the fence where she spun around, unlocked the gate and stepped outside, letting the gate swing shut.

‘We can indeed,’ I said. We both waved our goodbyes before Amy disappeared into the night. I watched until her silhouette had completely faded away before I shut the door. It was then I started focusing on what needed to be completed before I can go to bed, and that was the paradox that opened itself up when I appeared in the shopping centre this afternoon.

Random Topic Generator: When Are Critics Wrong? - By Nostalgic Critic

This interesting video explores the different opinions we all have when viewing the same film. Nostalgia Critic justifies his point by explaining how critics analyse the films compared to us, as well as giving his point of view when watching films.

How many times have you liked a film but the critics didn’t, and vice versa? This video answers that in a detailed and gripping way that will help you understand the world of giving an opinion professionally, instead of casually.

I’ve watched a lot of films over the last few years. I could even say that I am practically addicted to them, even though that might not be the correct term. The point is, I can’t get enough of sitting down in front of a good film, relaxing for an hour and a half to two hours. But, even though I’ve watched a lot and have picked up on a few things that some critics may discuss in their reviews, I’m still watching for entertainment purposes only, not professionally, and that different mind-set may actually change how we perceive the film emotionally.

The Nostalgic Critic doesn’t quite explain that last sentence, but he certainly helps you process it may help you understand their world just a little bit more.

… Of the Week: 27th April – 4th May 2016

Film of the Week:

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

The first film in the live-action franchise wasn’t that well-received, and the critical responses only ever got worse as the sequels started to roll out. Even though the critics wrote scathing reviews, the franchise somehow is making enough money to warrant three sequels, with a fifth scheduled to be released next year.

The main reaction to the films is that the story starts to disappear until, when the third came out, many said the story was practically non-existent. When the fourth came out last year, even though it made a staggering billion dollars at the box office, critics absolutely hated it.

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about films, and when I mentioned that I actually like the Transformers series, they groaned as if I had a bad taste in movies, even though I said that I love all the greats, such as Jurassic Park, Godfather, Godfather Part 2, and many more. I made it even worse when I said my favourite out the four is the third, which was actually given the second worst reviews. I mean, is it really a bad thing if I like the Transformers franchise.

The film starts off in 1961, when the Ark, a Cybertronian spacecraft carrying the necessary equipment to end the on-going war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, crash lands on the moon, which is detected by Nasa. President John F. Kennedy authorises a mission to put a man on the moon. When Apollo 11 lands on the moon in 1969, the crew investigates the crashed ship.

In present day, Sam Witwicky (played by Shia LaBeouf) struggling to find work. He is also angry at the fact that he is now unable to work with the Autobots even though he had helped them save the world twice over. We are introduced to a new female lead, Carly Spencer (played by Rose Huntington-whiteley), who works in a luxurious company with a confident boss. Sam becomes jealous of the relationship Carly and her boss have, Dylan Gould (Played by Patrick Dempsey). Eventually, Sam does get a job delivering the mail in a large office block.

The Decepticons learn about the ship and attempt to construct a space bridge connecting Earth and the Moon to bring all the Decepticons to Earth. The humans once again team up with the Autobots to defeat the Decepticons in their biggest battle yet.

Visually, the special effects are stunning. And there are a lot of effects throughout the film. And being a Michael Bay film, it does contain a lot of explosions.

The epic fight that takes up nearly the entire film is big and continues to grow. I said once before that the reason why I enjoyed Pacific Rim was because it was robot and monster battling it out for two hours. That film was also criticised not having that much story. When done right, and I believe Transformers: Dark of the Moon has done just that, one giant long fight can be just as entertaining as any other movie. Robot Vs Robot – Autobots Vs Decepticons – for two and a half hours. What is wrong with that?

If you watch the film as it is, and not judge it as part of a franchise and watch it just for the fun of it, then I believe it will then become an entertaining film for you.

TV Episode of the Week:

Soul Eater – Episode 9 – Legend of the Holy Sword – Kid and BlackStar's Great Adventure?

If I were to sum up this episode with one word, it has to be: FOOL!

Death the Kid and Black Star is tasked to tidy the library. When doing so, they come across a book about a legendary sword known as Excalibur. Anyone who successfully pulls the sword out of the stone is deemed a hero and will be rewarded with glory and fame. It’s a no-brainer that they go looking for the sword. When they find it…

FOOL!

It isn’t exactly what they had in mind.

The other story in the episode, Maka’s dad, Sprit Albarm, tries to reconnect with Maka, but doesn’t do as well as he had hoped.

Soul Eater comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but when the moment calls for it, it can become quite so, even becoming emotional at times as well. But the main focus is comedy, and you will be laughing from your gut with each episode.

Game of the Week:

Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale

I’ve talked a lot about sandbox, racing, and simulator games over the last couple of weeks. This week, I would like to break away from those types of games and move onto something that I never actually thought I would like. A Japanese Role Playing game, known as Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale.

The aim of the game is to run a shop in order to pay off your debt that your dad has raked up, or you will lose the shop and subsequently your home as you live above the shop. Each day, you have to sell stuff and buy stuff from customers, as well as venturing into the tombs with a trusted guide who will fight all manner of enemies to gain free items and experience points so you can progress further into the tombs, defeating bosses along the way.

Your day’s are split up in four quarters. If you open the shop, you will lose one quarter of your day. If you venture into the tombs, you will lose two quarters of your day, and the same goes for when you go to the market to either buy new items or sell unwanted ones, and when you go and buy armour or weapons from the Merchant’s Guild, or if you just want a friendly chat in the Town square, which will ultimately progress the main story as well.

At the end of each day, you are given a rating on how well you have done and how much profit you’ve made or how much you’ve lost. At the end of the week, you must have enough money to pay off that week’s payment, which rapidly increases over the next few weeks. The entire game is set over four weeks. Once you have successfully paid off the debt, you will then get the choice to continue playing the game indefinitely, without the worry of not having enough money at the end of the week.

It is a tough game. When you enter the tombs, the enemies don’t back down. They attack you with everything they have, and the bosses are exactly the same, except a lot stronger. You have to manage your time perfectly to maximise each day to get the maximum amount of profit you can. You can be on a roll, gaining plenty of money, but then the slightest mistake can lead you losing hundreds, possibly thousands of pounds in one go, leaving you wondering what happened. Each decision you make has to be well-thought out, just in case it does turn out to be bad in the long run.

And that is what makes it fun, in a way. Because it’s difficult, the level of satisfaction that comes from when you successfully pay off that week’s debt cannot be replicated, and when you’ve completed the game, you feel as if you worked hard and deserve to win. I have put many hours in this game, and I can tell you that when I say you feel as if you deserve to win at the end, I’m talking from experience.

If you enjoy JRPGs, then this is a great game for you. However, if you haven’t really ventured into these types of games before, then I would say that this is a good game to sink your teeth into. I can assure you that once you’re playing, you won’t be able to stop until you’ve beaten the game.

Video of the Week:

STORE CLERK BLUES | Job Simulator – VIVE

Last week, I talked about Jacksepticeye playing as a store clerk. This week, I couldn’t resist talking about Markiplier playing the same game. Jack only played a part of the game, whereas Mark plays the entire game. And it is funny throughout. I couldn’t stop laughing at the antics Mark gets up to playing the game, and when it jumps to Mark doing some random action in the middle of the living room, makes you wonder what someone would think you were doing if they had walked in on you. We know what he’s doing, but they don’t, and that adds to the humour.

The Watch – Part 70

‘I don’t know whether I should feel weirded out that you beat me or not since I also beat you, making it one all?’ Amy asked herself more than me.

‘Well,’ I said, ‘we can always make things interesting and battle it out one more time to decide who’s the better dancer once and for all,’ I said.

‘“Battle it out”?’ Amy repeated.

‘Sorry,’ I said. I tend to get a little dramatic when it comes to competitions like this.’

‘I think it’s cute,’ she said making me blush before realising something.

‘You’re not trying to distract me by making me blush and all that jazz, are you?’ I asked her.

‘And what if I am,’ she said stepping up to me before pecking me on the cheek once more.

‘Because that’s not against the rules at all,’ I said smiling before returning the kiss.

‘Whose turn is it to pick?’ Amy asked trying to hide her mushy face and get back on track and concentrate on the game, even though we’ve successfully managed to distract ourselves instead of just the other one.

‘I think it’s your turn,’ I said.

‘Didn’t I pick last time, though?’ she asked.

‘You might have done,’ I said trying to push my memory back to only a few moments ago, but the last couple of seconds kept on getting in the way.

‘Rock, Paper, Scissors?’ Amy suggested.

‘OK,’ I said raising and closing up my hand to form a fist. Amy did the same and placed it directly in front of mine.

‘Ready?’ I asked.

‘On three.’

‘One.’

‘Two.’

‘Three,’ we both said together whilst revealing our choice. I picked rock whilst Amy picked paper, meaning she won and gets to pick the next song to dance to.

‘Better luck next time,’ she said wrapping her hand over mine to show that she had one the game and took the controller out from my hand.

‘I don’t understand,’ I said. ‘I’ve always managed to win with rock.’

‘Everyone picks rock as their first choice,’ Amy explained as if it was common knowledge, ‘and so I always pick paper and about ninety percent of the time it works.’ Amy pushed down the down arrow on the D-pad and let the selection of songs fly upwards until it hit the bottom where she picked the song, ‘Bird is the Word,’ which was one of the hardest songs in the entire game. I covered up my fear by saying.

‘But now that I have that knowledge as well and so the next time won’t be so easy to win.’

‘It should be interesting,’ Amy said handing me the controller after selecting the song and preparing to dance. ‘I hope that you’ve still got some energy left inside you because you are about to dance your socks off.’

‘I can say the same thing to you,’ I said.

‘But you won’t because I’m going to prove just how extraordinary a dancer I am,’ she said.

‘You have no idea where this conversation is going do you?’

‘Not a clue,’ she said simply as the countdown started and finished before the arrows came barrelling up the screen. Her legs were a blur. They moved in every which way in speeds I thought was impossible for the human legs to reach. It was from this performance that I realised that Amy has done this before. There is no other way that she can be that good at noticing when each arrow has appeared and what direction it is pointing in such a short amount of time unless she has a lot of experience under her belt, enabling her to remember each move. I was in complete awe.

Tom has quite a lot of experience with this game, but even he struggles massively when it comes to dancing to this song, and I’m next. Is that cheating, picking a song that she knows how to dance to with considerable amount of accuracy and my not knowing how to even comprehend the speed of it? No, I can’t consider it cheating if she doesn’t know that, that is the only song in the entire game that I cannot complete with an accuracy rating of over 50%, and Amy has already beaten my best in the first minute with a staggering accuracy rating of 70% and climbing fast. I think this is the only time I’ve ever done that comical gulp to show that I’m terrified of being beaten.

‘You’re up,’ Amy said, out of breath with a very credible 87% score. She sat down on the sofa, waiting for me to step onto the map and dance to that impossibly hard song. But I wasn’t scared at all about dancing to a song that I can barely do. I’ve defeated hundreds of robots and their giant counterparts, came face to face with a super villain and even successfully saved an entire world from being obliterated by a dozen gigantic rockets.

I’m terrified…

The game loaded up, and started the countdown. I have to somehow try and block everything out so that I am able to concentrate on the arrows alone, just so that I will have some chance of processing them and reacting to them accordingly.

3. 2. 1. Go.

***

Amy was bent double with laughter. My legs were flying all over the place and nearly caused me to lose balance. Luckily I managed to right myself and get back on track, but at the end of the song, I only scored a percentage of 76%, which was the best I’ve ever done, but just wasn’t enough to get remotely close to Amy’s score, let alone beat it.

‘Well, at least I tried,’ I said shrugging my defeat away.

Amy was in a fit of uncontrollable laughter. ‘Your legs were flying every which way,’ she said through gasps of air. ‘It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.’ Her laughter was naturally very contagious and after about a minute, I was also laughing as well. With tears in our eyes, we finally calmed down and sat back down on the sofa.

‘Good game,’ I said.

‘It was,’ Amy confirmed. We were still out of breath from all the dancing and laughing. I felt as if I had lost several pounds and strengthened my stomach and legs muscles in the process.

‘And they say that games don’t give you any exercise,’ I said.

‘I know, right,’ Amy said.

‘Now, because you beat me, I think you deserve my gift.’

‘Did we agree on an award after someone wins?’ Amy said trying to think back.

‘No, but I thought I would anyway.’

‘Well, when you put it like that,’ she said smiling.

I leaned over and planted a kiss on her lips.

‘I think I already have one of those,’ she said, ‘but it doesn’t hurt to have a collection.’ That was the cheesiest sentence anyone has ever said, which is why it was also so romantic.

Top Number: My 7 Top Simulators

Nowadays, games are pretty realistic with their physics. They are now realistic enough that you can create the real thing in a virtual environment. There are so many simulators out on the market these days, it’s easy to pick up one that many consider as terrible. However, the ones that are good do become the most sought after simulators.

Most simulators are based around everyday jobs. Whether it’s driving a truck, train, managing a farm, racing a car, etc., there is a simulator out there to give you an immersive feel of that part of the world.

When a simulator comes out, no matter what job it is replicating, there are always going to be many that follow suit. The majority can be worse than the original; very rarely does one come out that’s actually better. It can be hard to know which one to go for. The best way to pick the best one is by being recommended them.

Today, I would like to talk about my top 7 simulators.

Number 7:

Spintires

If you like mud, and a lot of mud, then you would like this game. The aim of the game is to drive across the countryside in vehicles that at first glance, are more than up for the task of driving over any type of terrain, but the moment you start trekking from one place to another, the thick mud, massive puddles, and so many trees will test even the toughest of machines. You can download the free demo to test how the game works, and if you like it you can buy the full game, where you are given objectives, such as rescuing a stuck vehicle, or delivering valuable cargo.

Just like the real world, you have to have patience when you’re driving, because speed is not always the answer. If you go too fast, your wheels can get dig into the mud and they may not be able to get out. You also have to have your wits about you as well – making the wrong move can be game over in an instant. Given the right circumstances, it can be a real nail-biting game.

Number 6:

Tabletop Simulator

Back in the day, before computers started to dominate everything game related, board games and card games provided the entertainment, and for hours on end without getting boring in the slightest. This game simulates the feel of playing the classics once more, and because it’s on the computer, you can play with your friends wherever they are around the world.

The game includes the many classics such as chess, playing cards so you can play all the card games ever. You can also create your own game, or import a game that somebody else has created.

As well as creating certain games that aren’t in the game, you can also invent your own games as well, with your own rules as well. Once you’re happy with your game, you can upload it to the internet for everyone to download. This can be a very powerful tool because this game proves that the art of board games isn’t dying out at all.

Number 5:

Train Simulator

This is one of the more realistic titles on this list. This game is what got me into simulators. It’s incredible attention to detail makes for a very immersive experience. You get the option of completing challenges, or free roaming from one station to another.

As good as it is, it does have some downsides, which is why it is at number 5 on the list. The first problem is the base game doesn’t come with that many routes, and if you want to by another route, you will have to fork out the same amount of money as it is to by the base game, which is a little bit too much. And, Train Simulator loves their DLC, because there are hundreds pieces to download: Routes and new trains.

As awesome as it is driving a train, the real thing is always better, and you are playing a game after all, which is why, after a while, being restricted to the tracks can become a little repetitive, maybe even delivering a monotone experience. However, after a short break, you will want to go back to driving trains once more.

Number 4:

Gran Turismo 5

The developers of the Gran Turismo series have been delivering realistic racing simulators for years. Every car you drive handles according to the real thing, and there are a lot of cars. If you play it every day for an entire month, it is guaranteed to either win or purchase at least one new car every time. There are hundreds of tracks of famous places all around the world, even some that are exclusive to the games.

I’ve singled out the 5 instalment in the franchise, because I believe it’s the best in the series yet. The developers spend nearly ten years making this game. They even released a standalone prologue to the game, which is essentially a teaser demo for the real thing, because it took so long to make. But when they did, all that waiting paid off as they delivered an amazing racing experience every time.

Number 3:

Dirt 2

If you prefer rallying over racing on tarmac, then the Dirt series is the way to go. I’ve singled out Dirt 2 out of the three that have been released because I feel it’s the better one of the three. Don’t get me wrong though, all three games are solid, fun, thrilling even, but Dirt 2 for me is more solid, more fun, and that little bit more thrilling than the other two.

As soon as the red lights turn to green, and you’ve squashed the accelerator into the car’s floor so that you can’t slow down for anything, and once you’ve reached top speed, you don’t want the finish line to come as all you want to do is speed along the straights, skid around the corners, and avoid the rocks without cutting any corners. This is truly the best rallying simulator out there (so far).

Number 2:

Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator

I’ve included two games in this entry, because they are made by the same developer, and because they are both based around the same thing: Trucking. But that does not mean they are exactly the same game. They are totally different. Euro Truck allows you to drive from one edge of Europe to the other in one giant road trip, and American Truck Simulator allows you to drive through America. The latter is the newest one of the two, so there aren’t that many places at the moment, but the developers are quick on their feet and so it won’t be long before new DLC is added and maybe the entirety of America is available for you to roam freely in or to deliver that all important cargo.

If I am honest, though. I am a bit biased when it comes to these games, because I like to relax when I’m playing my games, and no game helps me to relax than these two, because all I have to do is load up the game, pick the destination, stick on my music, and drive, drive, drive. If you want to listen to something different, the games do have an inbuilt radio as well.

Both games are incredibly realistic. When you are driving a truck, it actually feels as if you are delivering a truck, because when you press the button to turn, it takes a while to do so because of how heavy the truck is, and when you’re pulling a twenty-five tonne trailer behind you, attempting to do a hill-start becomes a hair-raising experience.

Number 1:

The Sims series

When I thought of this idea, even though The Sims games aren’t necessarily my favourite simulation games, but they are the most impactful, and actually surprisingly realistic. Well, I say realistic, it does have moments that are purely fictional, but they are for entertainment purposes only.

The whole point is to look after either one Sim, or an entire family of Sims. You then buy your house, get a job, save money to upgrade certain things within your house, or put an extension on your house, or even buy a new house altogether.

I’m confident is saying that whoever is reading this article has heard of the Sims series, and probably have a favourite game of the four. Mine’s number 3 because it is the first to introduce the ability to actually leave your house and go exploring around the area, but mainly because it has an expansion pack that allows you to travel into the future, where you can build robots and even look up previous lottery numbers so you can win the jackpot in the past.

It’s a very immersive experience – I know I’ve said that a lot throughout this article – it truly is.
