Sebastian Spencer is the main protagonist of The Watch. He's
eighteen years old and when we meet him, he's a nervous person who prefers to
stay in and read a good book or watch a good film instead of going out to party
all night long as the atmosphere makes him feel uncomfortable. He's a nervous
person by nature, however that factor is contradicted by how his curiosity can
take charge and ultimately put him in situations that he would rather get out
of as quick as possible. Due to his staying in doors, his is book smart so
knows how to solver particular problems, but when it comes to the outside
world, he struggles to interact properly, therefore increasing his nerves,
creating a rather vicious circle.
But he isn't an introvert. His friend, Tom, who he has known
him since the first day of preschool and has been by his side ever since
supporting him through the toughest of times, made sure of that by dragging him
outside allowing Sebastian to gain some intelligence when it comes to
interacting with the world around him, and as a result, he doesn't mind going
on as long as there is someone who he knows accompanying him, which isn't what
Tom wanted to happen at all. At the back of his mind, Sebastian does know that
if he didn't worry so much, he would be able to appear smarter when out and
about rather than just inside, where he can recite the entirety of the Elements
Song and knows all of the atomic numbers for each element, among other mental
talents, including his powerful imagination, which he is very proud of. He also considers his instincts as a strength as well.
On the first day of college, as everyone was getting ready
for their first science class, Sebastian noticed someone walk in with radiant
blonde hair. He looked up, he saw Amy walk in and take her seat on the other
side of the classroom, although he didn't know who she was at the time, but one
quick question from Tom and he found out her name. It's fair to say that
everyone gets nervous when they want to talk to someone they like, but the
internal warfare that was going on inside Sebastian's mind was on a different
level. For Four years, Sebastian tried to bring himself to have a conversation
with Amy, but somehow always managing to catch her at a bad time, either when
she was with her friends or just any time in general, he felt. Tom knew of
Sebastian's feelings from day one and tried to encourage him to go up and talk,
but never getting anywhere.
Ever since Sebastian could remember, his mum and dad would
go away on lengthy business trips, leaving him in the company of his
grandparents who would look after him for the entire duration, but they would
always call whenever possible just to make sure he was OK, so he never got the
feeling that his parents weren't there for him, understanding the value of work
at an early age. Now that he is eighteen years of age, this summer would be the
first time he would be officially on his own, but over the years his natural
ability to look after himself has developed enough for him not to worry about
anything as long as it's inside.
But everything changed when he received a strange and
powerful device known only as The Watch...
