... Of the Week: 23rd – 30th December 2015

Movie of the Week:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

With this article, I wanted to celebrate Christmas by sharing with you a classic film that will get you in the mood for Christmas, but then I saw Star Was and immediately changed my mind.
Don’t worry, I won’t give away any spoilers. This is one epic film from beginning to end that would satisfy the most hardcore of fans. You might have already seen the film considering it did take in a record-breaking $529 million (£355 million), which just knocks Jurassic World’s $524.9 million (£325 million) of the top spot, in its opening weekend, which is staggering. Many people are saying, and I totally agree, that this film has a strong chance of beating the likes of Avatar as the number one grossing film in the world, although it still has a long way to go as the final total for Avatar is a whopping, $2,787,965,087 (£1,873,947,349.50).
Currently, Stars Wars is the fifth highest-grossing film series of all time, beating by the likes of, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Harry Potter, James Bond, and Middle-Earth series consisting of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is still going strong with many more movies set to be released over the coming few years, whereas Star Wars have two more films to go, but if the next two films are as good as this one, if not better, then Star Wars is going to be giving Marvel the run for its money. But even if it doesn’t manage knock Marvel of the top spot, that doesn’t matter, for Star Wars is still going to be one of the greatest film series of all time. The way it has impacted day to day life is and will always be amazing.
When the next two films hit our cinema screens, I’ll make sure that I’ve secured myself a seat.

TV Program of the Week:

John Bishop’s Christmas Show

John Bishop returns for his third Christmas special, which guests a plenty. From comedians to international superstars, this show will instantly get you in the mood for Christmas. You can sit down with your family and friends and have a great big laugh as John Bishop does what he does best. Kylie Minogue sings one of her songs from her very first ever Christmas album, and if that doesn’t get you in the mood, then I don’t know what will. Now available on BBC iPlayer, if you haven’t already seen it, then go and have fun. If you have seen it, then go and have fun all over again.

Game of the Week:

Grand Theft Auto V

Warning: Contains mature content

OK, so it’s not a game that focuses solely on Christmas, but its online Christmas DLC does. That counts, right?
It has become a yearly tradition for GTA V to include, for the Christmas period only – because it’s their Christmas DLC – their usual bad costumes, masks, and other seasonal updates. If you aren’t familiar with the game GTA V, then where have you been for the last few years? Once again, you’ve got all the fun of GTA V and Christmas in the same place. What can be better than that? Christmas Shopper 2: Black Friday? I don’t think so.

Video of the Week:

When I was picking the video to write about in this article, I came across three that I felt were equally as good, and I just couldn't decide on just one, so for a Christmas treat, here are three videos instead of just the one.

Animation Vs Minecraft

The person behind the popular web series, Animator Vs Animation has, in my opinion, created his best work yet. Animation Vs Minecraft tells the story of the four stick-men previous seen in the Animator Vs Animation videos take a journey through the world known by many across the globe as the popular sandbox game, Minecraft. It has an incredible story that sucked me in right from the beginning and didn't let up throughout. There is no dialogue, but, as the saying goes: A picture paints a thousand words. I seriously recommend this if you haven't already seen it.

Little Girl Mistakes Bearded Shopper for Santa Claus, Then Something Amazing Happens.

This video is cute, adorable, heart-warming, and will easily make you smile. The title describes everything that happens in the video, so I don’t really have to say much except to recommend it to you guys. It’s a short, simple, and sweet video that proves people are awesome.

An anti-war song that turned into a Christmas hit. This is by far my number 1 Christmas song because of the addictive, uplifting beat that brings home the message that much more. This song also reminds me when, during World War 2, on Christmas day, England and Germany would put down their weapons and exchange gifts, play football and have a genuinely fun day together before resuming fighting each other the very next day. This song, along with every other Christmas hit, will, unfortunately always be relevant.

To all those people who are away from their families and friends this Christmas, I would like say: Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
