When Angela Clark went to her friend’s wedding little did she know
her life would change forever.
In the first one I heart New York she catches he fiancé, Mark,
cheating on her at the wedding. So armed with just the clothes she took away
with her for the weekend, the bridesmaid dress she was wearing on the day and
her passport, Angela escaped the wedding and flies to New York.
With half the money in a joint account she set up with her fiancé,
she booked a hotel room and purchased other essentials she required. At the
hotel she met Jenny who quickly became a very good friend and helped her get an
interview at Look Magazine. Angela relayed the story of how she came to be in
New York and when it came to being asked if she had a Visa to work she said
‘no’. The interviewer, Mary, wasn’t best pleased that she came for a job
without a Visa, but after Angela explained that her story had all happened over
the previous weekend, that annoyance quickly faded and turned into shock. The
interviewer helped Angela by sorting out a visa and giving her the job.
Working for a magazine sometimes requires travelling around the
world to get the articles they want to print. The next book, I heart Hollywood,
tells the story of when Angela had been head hunted through a blog post she
wrote on the internet to do an article on a Hollywood star, James. She took up
the task and followed him around, but this resulted in her exposing a big secret
about him much to his and his fans annoyance.
The following book, I heart Paris, Angela travels to Paris with
her new boyfriend, Alex, who she met in a coffee shop. He is a musician and has
a gig in Paris, and Angela has an article to write. The drama starts when
Alex’s ex-girlfriend shows up and Angela gets jealous, jumps on the Euro Star
train and ends up back in London. Realising she had nothing to worry about, she
returns to Paris.
I Heart Vegas sees Angela fired from her job due to unexpected circumstances.
This resulted in Visa issues. To help forget the worry Angela and Alex go to
Las Vegas. Debating how to stay in the US, the subject of getting married comes
up but she neglects to mention this to Alex because she doesn’t want him to
think she is only marrying him to stay. When this is finally mentioned, she
realises her heart is really not in that type of wedding. Angela’s luck changes.
Armed with a wad of cash she won on a machine, she flies back to New York with
the idea of setting up her own magazine but sponsored by her previous employer.
Between the two books, Alex proposes to Angela, and she accepts.
In the next book, I Heart London, Angela flies back to see her
family and friends and bumps into her ex, Mark. After a long flight, Angela is
not in the best of moods. Friends from New York help join her prepare for their
wedding which will be held in Angela’s parents back garden. However, due to it
being hastily arranged, Angela’s mum thinks her daughter is pregnant, but the
morning sickness was actually hangovers. Things turn from good to bad when the set-up
becomes a disaster and Angela’s dad realises this is not what she wants. Plans
are changed and Angela and Alex eventually get married in New York.
The final book in the series as of yet is I Heart Christmas.
Christmas in New York is slightly different to Christmas in the UK. Some things
we have in the UK you cannot get in the US. Angela seeks out some of these
things and have them shipped over from the UK. This book is about Angela
arranging Christmas and Alex surprising her after a long day at work with a
wild goose chase across the city to meet up with some unexpected visitors.
With most series of books most characters are different to who
they were at the beginning, Angela’s core personality remains consistent
throughout – messy, disorganised, and loves luxury – her character development
comes from her actions more than her emotions. However, sometimes her emotions
take control and if it weren’t for them, her actions may not have been as
impactful as they were.
Throughout these books at the back you have a guide to the city as
the title or how to create a Christmas to remember.
These are great books to take on holiday especially if you are
visiting the place the book is set in.
