Top Number: Top 7 GTA V Mods

A couple of weeks ago, I counted down my top 9 GTA V pictures. In that article, I said that for some of those pictures happened as the result of some mods either deciding to have a bit of fun by themselves, or from my own actions whilst using those mods. What I didn’t talk about were the mods that I had used. I also decided to chuck in a couple others as well because I feel as if they deserve some recognition.

Modding a game has become a common thing to do. Whenever a new game comes out, you can guarantee that there will be some mods have been made for it. For some games, such as Skyrim, the mods are plentiful. 10,000+ mods have been made for Skyrim. Most people nowadays only play Skyrim because of the mods. Each mod is designed to give the player a unique experience, and from what I have seen of certain mods, a unique experience is certainly what you will get, and it’s the same with GTA V. Each mod is designed to give the player something more, whether it spawning as many vehicles you want, infinite money, the ability to teleport anywhere in the world, changing skins so that you are running around as a different character, and the classic, infinite health. When it comes to mods, anything is possible and more, and I would like to share with you my personal 7 favourite GTA V mods.

Before I do start the list, however, I would like to explain that every mod in this list required the ScripHookV.dll file in order to work. You will need to insert the file in your game’s directory. Without this file, the .asi files cannot activate properly and the mods won’t work once installed.

Some of these mods also require a folder called ‘Scrips’. To create the folder, go to Computer/Program Files (x86) /Steam/SteamApps/Common/Grand Theft Auto V. Once in there, right click, new folder, and name it Scrips. Once that’s done, follow the instructions for each mod and you’ll be golden.

Number 7:

Enhanced Taxi Missions

If you are like me, who likes to play games to relax, then I would recommend this mod. In GTA V, you can hop into any Taxi that you wish, and begin the side mission of driving a taxi around, picking up and dropping people off at their destination for a decent amount of cash. These types of missions are good for when you need a certain amount of money in order to purchase something specifically for a story-mission. Sometimes, I just like plugging my headphones in, switching on my music, and driving about in my taxi to wind down before going to bed. When I saw that someone had enhanced the taxi missions, I jumped at the chance.

This mod adds in a good number of features that makes this worthwhile, including: 475 individual pick-up and drop-off locations and the locations will change depending on the time of day. You don’t have to use just a taxi when doing the missions. Instead you can use a Stretch Limo, Schafter, Oracle, Washington, and Super Drop. The number of passengers randomly varies between 1 and 3 per mission, which adds to the amount of cash that you’ll be earning per mission; and if you are able to get to your destination before the timer changes from green to yellow, you can get a 40% tip, but if you the timer does tick down to yellow the tip will gradually decrease depending on how much time is actually left, and if it ticks down to zero, you won’t get any tip, just the standard fare.

Number 6:

Mayhem/Carmageddon Mod

If you are a fan of GTA IV and mods, chances are you would have come across the Carmageddon Mod, which does exactly what it says on the tin. It makes each and every single car go absolutely crazy. You won’t be able to near a car without it suddenly becoming sentient and speeding off down the road, smashing into literally everything. Changes are, you’ll be the first thing it hits. It’s tremendous fun.

In GTA V, the busyness of cars has been increased by a good percentage, which means when you install this mod, you had better keep both eyes peeled, and especially make sure that one of them is looking behind you just in case. It’s chaotic, thrilling, and all round unendingly entertaining. This version of the mod, however, comes with added features, such as different modes instead of just the one, which is nice, but in my opinion, they are more or less the same. Either way, it’s fun and will get you laughing for hours on end.

Number 5:

Police Mod 2

GTA stands for Grand Theft Auto… That was an obvious statement. Of course you know what GTA stands for. My point is, the entire game allows you to do pretty much whatever you want and one of those things is stealing a car. As a consequence of that action, you will get chased by the police and then they will make sure you don’t get away with your crime. This mod allows you to be the police officers who are chasing you… I mean, this mod allows you to be the police, and one of their tasks is chasing after someone who has stolen a car.

You can do everything that the Police can do: Arrest someone, take them back to the station for processing, patrol the area, and chase someone down either on foot or in a car. There’s not really much else to say about this mod, other than what I’ve already told you.

Number 4:

Watchdogs

Watchdogs is a PS4 game that allows you to hack into any traffic light, bank, car, any other lights, and basically anything that has a computer in, which is everything. Basically, you can hack everything. I haven’t personally played Watchdogs before, but I do admire the smooth way it deals with the ability to hack into anything you wish.  If you haven’t got a PS4 or you simply don’t fancy getting the game, then you don’t have to, because you can install a mod that gives you the experience of playing Watchdogs instead.

Its features include everything that the original game can do, hack any computer, traffic lights, cars, lights, banks. One of the my personal favourite features is casing a city wide blackout. The moment every single light switches off at once, plunging you into complete darkness, that is a thrilling experience.

The mod itself is really well built. It hasn’t broken yet – *touch wood* – and the UI is easy to navigate without getting confused.

Number 3:

Back to the Future Time Circuits Mod

If you know me, you would know that I am a massive fan of time travel. I can’t get enough of the concept. So I had to include the mod that allows you to travel in time. Although you will only be travelling a number of hours into the past or the future, day or night, instead of going to the Wild West, the fact that you can time travel within GTA V is enough for me to get excited. Of all the other mods on this list, this one is the hardest to install, but once you have done so it’s worth your time. It’s detailed, doesn’t break, and lets you even be either Marty or Doc.

Number 2:

Map Editor

This mod allows you to do whatever you want. This mod allows you to bend the world to your will. You can build ramps in the middle of the road, race tracks, obstacle courses, spawn in other characters, animals; you name it, you can do it.

For example, let’s say you are wanting to build an obstacle course for your car. What would you like to include in that course? A few barriers here and there, a few sets of cones to map out where you need to go so everyone isn’t going in the opposite direction, a couple of ramps, a chicane. This mod allows you to spawn in any object in the game. Every object that is in the game is yours for the taking. Go nuts.

Number 1:

Menyoo

Where do I start? This mod is gigantic. It’s packed full of so much stuff, it’s difficult to know what to do first.

To understand the sheer size of this mod, I first must talk about the Native Trainer. The Native Trainer allows you to spawn in any vehicle within the entire game, change into any person within the entire game, lets you be invincible (forever, not just for five minutes, which is how long the in-game cheat is only active for), lets your car be invincible, speed boost, run faster, jump higher, go forward and backwards in time, pause time, change the weather, give yourself every weapon the game, give yourself infinite money, teleport to so many places, and the list goes on. To accurately describe this mod, I have to say that this allows you to do anything you want, without limitations.

And then Menyoo came along. Before, you could do anything you want. Now, you can do anything you want, and more. You can do everything that I’ve said above, plus: Turn you or your car invisible, run incredibly fast, turn on slow motion when you are firing your guns, turn on no clip so that you can go through walls, spawn any object you so wish, upgrade your cars as you are going along, turn on hydraulics, give your vehicles weapons, more weather, save any vehicle you wish so that you can spawn it in if it gets destroyed, drive on water, teleport to even more places, be completely ignored by everyone  and the list goes on for ages. To list everything that this mod allows you to do, this article would be several pages long. For those that are wanting to make videos for Youtube, this mod is quintessential as you can add so much more to them. And, unlike the Native Trainer, whatever ever option you have activated will automatically already be turned on even after you’re shut the game down and restarted it, which is an added bonus.

And once you’ve combined this mod with all the other mods in this list, the possibilities are simply and truly endless. You would be able to do everything you want.
