BBC radio has lost a voice,
Children in Need’s Pudsey have lost a friend, and the floral dance has lost its
singer.
Over 50 years, Terry Wogan has
made himself a household name via radio and television. And after Having been
presented with a knighthood by the queen for his charity work he became Sir
Terry Wogan.
He started out making a name for
himself in Ireland where he was born, before coming over to England where he
started out on radio 1 and finishing on radio 2 after moving into television.
He came across as the type of person who didn’t worry if something was going to
be perfect or not, and as a result, it was perfect.
His chat show had its ups and
down yet he never seemed to let this get him down. He interviewed a wide range
of known people from George best to Prince Philip, Maggie thatcher and many
other celebrities.
He was the front man on Come
Dancing, suffered at the hands of the front middle contestant in Blankety Blank
where he had his mic bent by Kenny Everett, he was the presenter on Points of
View and Aunties Bloomers, and exceled at commentating on the Eurovision Song
Contest, spreading his entertaining words across Europe.
He appeared on numerous other
shows as a guest, including: Would I Lie to You, Pointless, Never Mind the
Buzzcocks, and Top Gear driving the reasonably priced car.
So wake up to wogan! This is your
life.
