The Watch – Part 162:

Once again, I was standing in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the field. I still felt Amy’s kiss on my lips, which lead me to think what she’ll do now that I’m gone and may not come back. I’m hoping that she’ll just carry on with her life as normal. Tom doesn’t know that I’m gone. I did feel bad for leaving them. A part of me wanted to go back, but I know that if I do, Amy and Tom being wherever they are without any sign of my coming to rescue them would always be playing on my mind. I just can’t imagine myself sitting back and relaxing knowing that they could literally be in danger. I just can’t.

First things first, find out whatever took them. Or if nothing did take them, then find out what initially happened… Well, that doesn’t really help me figure out what to do first since that is what I’m here to do.

Ok, maybe I could locate something, an anomaly or sorts… Or, I could go back in time and wait for what comes and capture them before rescuing them. Ah, but then I would be creating another timeline. The one I’m on now is the one I left them on when I went back home to save the Earth, which means I need to locate them on this timeline, then rescue them. That way, I can put my mind at rest and their mind at rest. Makes sense. Probably.

Right, so, first things first, locate them. I need to find some kind of evidence that would point me in the right direction, and from judging by how big this field is, there won’t be any civilisation for a long while yet in every direction. The thing that keeps bugging me is, though is how they were able to disappear so quickly? I mean, I was only gone for a couple of seconds, and now they are nowhere in sight. Something that could take them in a matter of seconds must have been a powerful device, and something that powerful can’t come and go without leaving behind some kind of trace. Obviously, my watch can help me, maybe even lead me directly to them, but I don’t know what commands I need to give it for it to help me.

I sighed with struggle. Back when I was going up against Sebastian and his robot minions, I was on point all the time. Figuring out everything and always being on the same step as him so that I could knock him down, or attempt to at least. I think I’m panicking much more than I thought I was. Maybe I could increase my intelligence, just to give me that extra boost. No, I know I can do this, I just have to remain calm. Once again, I inhaled and exhaled deeply, getting rid of as much panic and worry as I could I need to move on. It worked last time, so why shouldn’t it work this time.

I opened my eyes and immediately saw the answer: Footprints. Amy and Tom’s footprints were scattered all over the place as Tom was throwing up all over the floor, and Amy was sitting on the ground. I remember now. Her hands were resting on the mud. I looked at either side of the Amy’s footprints and saw two indentations – albeit very, very subtle – in the mud. They weren’t in the shape of hand, but that didn’t matter. Her DNA would \\be on that patch of mud. If I could get the watch to scan that pat of mud, then it would be able to take me directly to Amy and Tom. That’s the plan anyway.

‘Interface,’ I called. ‘I need you to scan that patch of field for any trace of Amy’s DNA.’

‘Certainly,’ he said. The watch flickered through a series of menus before stopping on a screen showing a blank screen. The watch then let out a very standard green laser then skimmed over the patch of field three times before switching off. I looked at the watch’s screen once more and found all the information I need regarding Amy: Name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, blood type, and so on, even detailing what her favourite foods, songs, films, TV programs, games; you name it, this list contained it. I felt slightly compelled to do the same with Tom’s DNA, but that would mean scanning that large pile of… well, that’s why I chose to scan Amy’s DNA instead. “Can you now use that DNA teleport me to her?” I asked.

‘I can,’ he said simply.

‘Awesome,' I said genuinely amazed. I know this watch can do everything and anything I want, but I still am surprised by what it can do. The watch’s screen flashed through another set of screens as Interface responded to my instructions.

In less than a minute, the screen showing the place where Amy and Tom were right now popped up and the button that I needed to go there appeared at the bottom.

‘This might sound strange, but I’m actually a bit nervous at what I might walk into,’ I told interface.

‘That is understandable,’ he nodded.

I took a deep breath to gather myself up and lightly pressed the button. Instantly, the field surrounding me disappeared only to be replaced with nothing. I felt my entire body being pushed towards my destination. What was I going to find on the other side? What state will Amy and Tom be in? There is one thing I know for certain, and that is whoever or whatever took them had better have their wits about them. They won’t know what’s about to hit them.
