1,000 Words: Castle Park’s New Bridge

My new series will see me getting out of the house a bit more, which I probably need to do. This will replace Layers for the time being on Thursdays and Sundays whilst I try and figure out what direction I would like to take that story in. I will be taking pictures of things that interest me and what I think will interest you.

The first picture is of the new bridge that has been installed in Castle Park. Before, it was a small concrete bridge that two people could cross easily, but people of bicycles had to wait at one end before the bridge was clear to cross. Now, with this bigger bridge, everyone can cross whenever they want without fear of crashing into someone.

The previous bridge has been there for years, and only now, last year, did they replace it. I do wonder why it took so long. Were they waiting for the previous bridge to grow to old and dilapidated, or they saw that it was working fine, or did they never have enough money to construct a new, bigger bridge? Whatever the reason, the new bridge gave me the opportunity to snap this picture just before it was lowered in. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to see them lower the bridge into place because I had an appointment, but the green metal and wooden walkway blends in with the surrounding countryside perfectly. The last thing anyone wants is a bridge to stand out like a sore thumb.
