If I’m going to defeat Magician once and for
all, along with all of those Monsters, I’m going to have to increase my powers
to that of beyond anything I’ve ever reached before. Magician said that portal
cannot be written out of the equation by rewriting time, but it isn’t
unstoppable. If I increase my magical powers enough, I will be able to blast it
with enough energy to make it collapse in on itself, preventing any more
Monsters to come through, then I can go about wiping out the rest of them, and
putting a stop to Magician. He will think twice before wanting to go up against
me again.
I
was mere seconds away from waking up now. My watch appeared on my wrist as my
body slowly became heavier, indicating that I am now back in the real world.
All I have to do now is open my eyes. But before I do that, I communicated with
Interface, requesting him to navigate through the watch’s menus, picking and
choosing all that I need, increasing each power to a level that no one would be
able to stand up against.
I could feel the rush of energy as each power entered my body. I felt stronger,
determined and contented than ever before. The more I increased my power,
through my eyelids, I could see a white haze slowly materialising around me. It
was then Interface’s voice spoke inside my head.
‘Sebastian,’
he said calmly, ‘if you increase your powers any more, you will destroy the
world,’ he explained. I stopped immediately. Due to the watch taking energy
from the universe, and that the more I took, the large the items I would start disintegrating
as I took their energy, I remember requesting Interface to warn me whenever I was
about to destroy anything huge of any sort.
‘Thanks
for letting me know, Interface,’ I said, just as calmly.
‘You
are welcome,’ he nodded. I breathed in deeply, letting out a long blow as I
adjusted to the level of power that was now running through my body all at
once. I was ready to open my eyes.
I
had returned. I could feel the dried up tears on my face from earlier. Magician
believes that I am defeated, that all he has to do now is take the watch from
me. Well, he is sadly mistaken.
I snapped my eyelids back, letting
the sunlight enter my retinas so I don’t have to wait for them to adjust later
on. It was time…
‘What
are you doing?’ Magician asked, stunned. He has noticed the white haze around
my body and he can’t figure out how someone as defeated as I can generate
something like that. I uncurled my body, straightening my legs and arms out
before rising upwards, turning myself around so that I was staring at Magician
in the eyes. This time, his insanity didn’t affect me. Instead, I affected him.
He stared at me, wondering how I’m able to do this and what I’m about to do.
I
looked up and saw the portal, still holding strong in the sky with more orbs of
light than before. By nothing more than just willpower, I flew towards the portal,
charging up a ball of white-coloured magic in my hands, and when I reached the
point that I knew was deadly for the portal, I stopped. I hung in the air for a
second, waiting for the magic in my hands to finish building up. When it was
just right, I swung my arms around and fired a solid beam of white light at the
portal, hitting it with tremendous force. The two energies collided in a
spectacular light show, spanning across the entire sky in every direction,
absorbing many orbs of light that were unfortunate enough to not get nearer the
ground, forcing them back through, returning them to their home Universe where
they will remain trapped forever.
My powerful, unrelenting attack
proved effective when the portal started to do what I had expected of it: Close
in on itself. Slowly but surely, the outer circumference grew gradually
smaller. I could feel my arms growing tired with every second that passes, the
palms of my hands drowning in sweat. The portal grew small enough that my beam
of white light engulfed it entirely.
Then, with a satisfying explosion
of all the colours of the rainbow across the sky, the portal closed. I stopped
my attack. The portal had gone, leaving behind a clear blue sky. Peaceful. I
had hoped that with the portal closing the Monsters on the ground would
automatically disappear as well, but they are still rampaging free, destroying
what’s left of the world. I looked down at the ground and saw Magician watching
me. He was stunned. I did what he thought was impossible.
Without
turning, I floated downwards feet first, landing softly on the ground in front
of Magician, who was shocked into speechlessness.
‘I
must congratulate you for closing that portal,’ he said, surprising me. ‘I told
you that it was unstoppable, that it would be there no matter how many times
you travel through time. I thought you hadn’t mastered the watch as much as you’ve
shown. You truly are a worthy opponent. But tell me, are you going to use your
magic to wipe you all the other monsters?’ he asked rhetorically, ‘if you are,
I must ask what you are going to do afterwards. Once all the monsters have been
wiped from the face of the Earth, how are you going to fix a ruined world.
Travelling through time won’t work; you know just as well as I do that if you
were to travel through time, to before the portal was ever opened, you will
have to go through me first. Changing time, creating a new universe, sounds
simple, doesn’t it? Except, I will follow you. Wherever, whenever you go. I
will follow you.
‘I
hold in my hand, a powerful magical object…’
‘Shut
up,’ I spat. My confidence took him by surprise. ‘I am done playing your games.
This ends right here, right now.’
‘I’m
fairly confident you don’t know any of the watch’s secrets,’ he smirked. ‘I can
tell you haven’t, because your perspective would change considerably if you
knew any one of them.’
‘Don’t
you dare,’ I shouted.
‘Don’t
I dare… what?’ he was trying to get inside my head one more time.
‘I
don’t care how many secrets you may know, or may be tricking me into thinking
you know I will not let you be the one to tease me with that knowledge. It’s
rational to think that there are plenty of secrets, but I will be the one to
find them when I am ready.’
‘For
all you know, I may have a secret that no one else could ever know.’
I
smiled. He looked a bit uneasy. ‘That’s illogical. You would have had to find
that somewhere. It may take me a while, but I refuse to let you be the one to
tell me anything.’
‘Very
well, then,’ his smirk growing. ‘Then let me tell you something about my
magical object instead. The moment I came in contact with it, it showed me
everything it is capable of…’
‘Shut
up,’ I shouted again.
‘Then
attack me,’ he shouted back. ‘Attack me and win this fight. Give me a fight
worth losing,’ and he opened his arms and stood there, waiting for me to
strike. Why?
TO BE CONTINUED…
