Video of the Week: The New Species of Bloodsuckers Living in Subways – Let Me Clarify #7 (by Rooster Teeth)

Wednesday’s article is usually my Film of the Week, however, because I have something special planned for Friday, I thought I would bump up Friday’s Vide of the Week to today. Next week, I will be talking about La La Land, but I haven’t yet seen it to give my opinion. Today’s article will be short and sweet as I’m preparing for Friday, along with another big project which I will keep you updated in due course.

This week’s video is also your week’s dosage of knowledge. Let Me Clarify, a new show from Rooster Teeth, takes random science questions and explores them. Evolutionary Biologist, Sally Le Paige makes any question seem easy to answer and explains why something is specifically that or this. This week, Gus asks two questions, and the latter concerns The London Underground. Whilst further research needs to be carried out, it has been confirmed that a sub-species of mosquito has evolved underground. Instead of preferring to gorge upon birds, they prefer humans. There have been plenty of reports concerning people getting bit by mosquitos, and even a swarm happening now and again. I can’t say personally that I’ve ever been bitten or even seen one, and before watching this video, I didn’t even know they were down there. Now I’m always going to be looking over my shoulder whilst on a packed station waiting for a train that’s filled to breaking point with London commuters.

Whilst the name of the video does state its episode 7, actually the series is still in the pilot stage. Rooster Teeth is still ironing out a few bumps. Over the course of their trial and error stage, they have taken in various points made by the viewers and have changed the series subtly. Its popularity has been steadily growing, so when the series does begin officially, it will be curious to see what they’ve changed. Whilst this episode is 15 minutes long, they only covered 2 questions, however the answers were full of detail and were interesting to hear; it would be nice for them to include more questions per episode, but then each episode will be shooting past half an hour and/or longer.

Overall, this is a fun and interesting series that, now that they have started taking in questions from viewers, can only grow bigger and explore the randomness of the world.

Thanks for reading
